Pork Loin Steak Recipes

Ingredients (Serves: 4)
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • oil for frying
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pork loin steaks
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons wholemeal flour
  • 1 handful grated cheese

  • Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  • In a saucepan, boil the potatoes in lightly salted water for about 20 minutes, until firm to the bite. As soon as the potatoes are cool enough to touch, dice them and spread over a baking tray to cool.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in an ovenproof frying pan. Season the steaks and fry over a high heat until browned on both sides. Remove from the pan and set aside on a plate. Cover with tin foil.
  • Turn down the heat and add onion with a pinch of salt. Cook and stir until onions are soft and golden brown. Remove from the pan and add to the meat on the plate.
  • Dust the diced potatoes with flour and shake off any excess. The flour will soak up extra moisture and make the potatoes crispy. Add a little more oil to the pan and let it get very hot. Add potatoes in a single layer to the pan and fry, in batches if necessary, until golden brown and crisp on all sides. Try not to move the potatoes around too much, allowing them to get crispy.
  • Remove the potatoes from the pan and add the steaks back. Layer with potatoes and onions and sprinkle cheese on top.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until cheese has melted. Serve immediately.
